Here it is! I'd wanted to have this done in time for the contest Mugglenet was holding--but, yeah, I'm a little late. I did it anyway--and at this moment right now I am SO happy with it!! We'll see what I think of it when I look at it tomorrow...but right now--very happy!
This is the entire cover except the inner flaps that would hook around the hardcover. And I realize now that I stuck Snape where the ISBN and barcode would go! but his hands aren't very well painted anyway...
Obviously, I don't know what's coming in the text of book 7, so I can't create a scene from the book for the cover, so I settled on including who I think are five of the most pivotal characters coming up...or so I hope...well, two of them for sure!
Yes, I kinda show Snape in something of a probably-optimistic light--but he's my fav! And I REALLY want him to turn out to be an essentially good guy (tortured, suffering, and with some serious problems to work out--but NOT evil)!
I also made Harry's scar look "exactly like a bolt of lightning" since that what JKR says its looks like--so I went and got a photo of lightning and tried to reproduce it.
Also, I made the wands the actual colors that they should be (except Snape's since we don't know what kind of wood it's made from) but holly is a white wood, and yew is golden--so there.
All Photoshop (including text). Time = about 12 hours.
Lots of copyright infringement on this piece since I used names, fonts, etc...but it's fan-art--and all the art is my original work! So, no claiming it's yours--stealing art is wrong! Art thieves will be given to some bored Death Eaters. Thanks!
Agree with you completely on Snape (don't get me started on theorizing. ^^ I'd bore you to tears and/or make you doubt I had any sanity to begin with and have lost what little I could cling too ). Caught your spoilers on book 7 ^.^V! Me, personaly, am eagerly hoping that there's a bit more older guy/younger girl pairing, but (if my sig is the one I'm remembering) anything forbidden will do (*halo over devil horns*)
Anyway, the cover's cool-completely different from what's-her-name's art, but that's a good thing considering I'm more for richer colors (like you use. My brain's dead so that may not be the word I'm looking for, but you get the point ).
You'll also have to fwap me with something. The caffeine hasn't reached my brain yet, and when I first saw Harry (his hair) I thought 'what's Wolverine doing with Snape and Voldie?' ^^". I think being hit over the head ought to reallign it with some shred of sanity :3.

YAY! You got it done! You bum I LOVE the colors. They're perfect! And your cover just fits the series so well, everything about it... (um, yeah, of course, Snape being good. He must be! )
This is going to sound funny, but here are three of my favorite things: Snape's hair, Voldie's eyes, and Harry's glasses. The phoenix isn't included in that cuz it's my favorite thing! Boy can you draw things with wings
I give it a 10! Now I just know someone will stumble across it and call JKR and she will want THIS as the cover... man, that phoenix across the black background is just killer!!!

Wolvering with Snape and Voldemort...I think Wolverine could take care of Voldie pretty quickly! I just never think Harry's hair is messy enough in any of the pics or films...so I had to make a statement.
Yeah, I decided to go with some drama, though now that I look at it, Voldemort looks kinda...almost friendly...here we see the softer, kinder, teddy-bear side of Voldemort
Of course now I look back at it and go "ah, I should fix this, and this, and this..." I think I made Voldemort a little too friendly looking O_o But I was sorta going for a confidence like "you are SO gonna die kid..." I'm considering going back and making him a bit more nasty...
I LOVE LOVE the phoenix!! I love most of this piece, though I keep finding things that could be better, of course...
I think Voldie looks too kindly and gentle, a softer, gentler, you-can-take-this-Voldemort-home-to-your-mom kind of Voldie...I may go back and make him nastier. I was aiming for smug and confident "you are gonna die, die, die, kid" but kinda missed...what do you think?
I'm working on my hair-dressing skills--and I'm happy with Snape's hair, too, and all the things you mentioned. I almost forgot to give Harry glasses! I had to go back and add them...
Is there anything you see that sucks, that I should work on? Or if, you don't think any part sucks (I can find plenty of parts) what do you think is the weakest bit, or element whatever?

I have a very strong feeling that Fawks AND Buckbeak may show their feathered faces once more.
Hmm.... for Luna Lovegood being my favorite character, I haven't drawn her at all... I have some time to kill so why not

For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
