EDIT: HugsLee13 and Amarevia pointed out some very significant flaws in this piece. Most Notably--I had Renji's tattoos all wrong. I went and fixed that, and a couple other things that weren't looking right. Gomenasai, mina-san. I think it's better now. Big thanks to HugsLee13 and Amarevia for catching my mistakes (my fault because I did not search out good reference pix). Arigatou gozaimasu.

I can't believe it--three pieces of Bleach fan-art posted right in a row... and two of them fan-service. My reputation for purity is forever ruined. ... what do you mean "what reputation?" !
After my Byakuya piece, well, a couple folks made mention that there isn't enough Renji fan-service art in the world, so I was pondering that and contemplating compositions, and then finally made the connection-- stripes.
Oh, and a word of warning. Don't try this at home. Although this tiger looks cuddly and friendly, that's only because it's with Renji. Respect tigers and leave them alone.
Like my Byakuya piece, this one started out with an ink drawing, and was then colored in Photoshop. I didn't include the line drawing with this post, but if folks clamor to see it, I'll post it separately.
Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach. This is fan art by a fan for fans. I copied only the style, not anyone else's art, in creating this. I will remove this art at the request of the copyright holder. Thanks.
Lol! I was looking for some Bleach fanart here on DA the other day and I saw quite a lot of half-naked Renjis out there...
Anyway, I really like your picture. The tiger is adorable! Renji's hands look sorta weird though, I think his left hand turned out too small. And I think you got his stripes wrong. See at 0:48 --> [link]
But still, it's a really good drawing. Nice job!

Yeah, *Amarevia has some points. The one hand is much smaller than the other and the tatoos don't look quite right. Also, his head between his headwrap and his ponytail is a weird shape; it almost looks like a cone.
On the bright side, the tiger is great and you did a very good job on Renji's face this time. Over all it's pretty good!

You appeal to a small select group of confused people.
I used "photo" refs for his stripes and actually saw some dissent among the images I had about the placement of the stripes (at least for the ones on his face). I didn't have any refs of him shirtless, so I used my imagination. I couldn't remember if there were any points in the anime when he went shirtless (obviously, he's not my most favorite character, or I would have remembered). I have a vague memory of seeing somewhere on the net a diagram of where the stripes are, and if I remember right they don't show up on his arms at all, but I don't know if that diagram was canon or not, and regardless I wanted him to have more relation to the tiger, so I added stripes wherever I desired to create that relationship.
I haven't checked out the link you put in your comment yet, but I imagine it might clear up the stripe question.
The variation in hand size is due to distance. You'll notice the tiger's paw by his head is also smaller than the tiger's nearer paw. However, I might have used too long a lens, granted.
Yeah Amarevia has some good points and so do you. I struggled with the shape of his head so much and it went through several versions--and it's still not right! Plus, I ran out of paper, so his ponytail itself is rather weirdly shaped.
I really tried to get his face right. His mouth went through several versions, too... but overall I'm okay with his face...
Yeah, I didn't have a ref for the tattoos on his body, only his face (see comment I left for Amarevia)
The tiger's good, but I'm good at kitties. As for people ... I just suck.
*goes and hides in a corner to cry*
Ah well. I just take criticism (from myself and others) too seriously, even when it's excellent critique. If it wasn't that I was trying to challenge myself and improve my skills, maybe my art wouldn't be so crappy... sheesh, am I whining? I do believe I am whining. My appologies. *kicks self out of self-pity wallow and returns to semi-stable state of mind*
That is a perfect ref! I had no idea his tattoos looked like that... how did I miss that? I've watched that ending before... surely... huh... I'll bet Byakuya distracted me . At any rate, this means I MUST go back and repaint his stripes, and while I'm at it, I'll take a stab at fixing some other things. Stand by for updated version.
And thank you for all your critiquing. I don't take critique well, but once I've gone away and thought about it for a bit, I realize that usually everything in the critique was right, and then I appreciate it. So, thanks.
I like the tiger, too. I'm pretty confident with kitties. It's people I need more work on. But still (especially after making edits) I think Renji came out okay. Makes me wish I were a tiger...
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. Be yourself: no one is better qualified.
I think that the ponytail turned out just fine. Hold on, I have a reference or five for the tatoos. I'll send you a link.....
